Adolescent Program Students and Faculty Depart for Italy!
March 12, 2017

And they’re off!  Adolescent Program faculty and this year’s 9th Years departed for Italy this afternoon! This year, the Italy Trip expands to include more cities, sites, activities, and learning. For two weeks, the travelers will explore Florence (Renaissance art and architecture, Brunelleschi’s dome, Galileo and astronomy), Vicchio (centuries-old dairy farm and olive oil producer), Padua (history of science, math, medicine), Rome (ancient city, monuments, St Peter’s and the Vatican, Casa dei Bambini), Naples (archaeology museum, pizza) and Pompeii (ruins). They will climb Mt. Vesuvius to peer into the crater, and ponder the silence, steam, and stench. At selected sites, the 9th years will present their year’s research into history and culture. The trip winds up with an overnight in Amsterdam and a walk past Anne Frank’s house.
