nms1On Friday, December 3, the Extended Day (kindergarten), Elementary, and Adolescent Program students of the Montessori School of Lake Forest celebrated the holiday season with a musical offering to their community. Students, teachers, staff, and parents gathered in the school’s multipurpose room for an hour of songs performed by the children, and supported by New Music School (Chicago) teachers. New Music School teachers are among the specialists who regularly travel to the Montessori School of Lake Forest to offer extracurricular music, dance, and language lessons. At the Holiday Celebration Concert, older students performed pieces for flute, guitar, piano, and vocal pieces. And Extended Day and Elementary students performed a rendition of Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds”, featuring a backup “band” of music students and music teachers. The concert was lovely and lots of fun. Thanks to all of our musical students, and to New Music School, and Happy Holidays to All!

Age 6 and age 12 in Montessori are referred to as the capstone years. During these years children really dive into big work and develop their self-confidence.
